Procedural Writing
As discussed today in class, you will be completing another written how-to procedure.
In order to be successful in this task please complete the following:
1. Find a successful How-To video online that meets the criteria that has been given to you (ex. Mr.Lee’s students, or on you tube).
2. Discuss what makes this video successful based on the SSC. (Word choice, tips, advice, personal feedback, etc.)
3. Decide on a topic that is interesting, complex, and detailed.
4. You will have 3 days to complete both the analysis of a How-To video and your written piece.

Weekly Blogpost: Similes
Find or share a simile that you know or have found.
Explain what this simile means and what information you need to know to help understand the statement.
You may use pictures, words, connections to help explain your thoughts.
“She’s as quick as a cricket”
Crickets are fast. She is quick = she is fast. Speed sometimes relates to running, or walking, or traveling.
I infer that she is a fast runner.
SOPA… What is it? What does it mean?
Take a read.
What do you think?
“SOPA” stands for “Stop Online Piracy Act”. It’s goal is to stop online piracy. Are there bad consequences that come with the bill?
All websites containing pirated content, such as YouTube, would be blocked from all American IP addresses if the bill is passed. What does this mean to you?
Please remember…
I’m so impressed with many of your posts and comments.
Please remember to adhere to our blogging agreements and rules. In case you forgot, http://suppa.edublogs.org/blogging-agreements-and-rules/
1st Week Back… How do you feel?
I can’t get over how tired I am this week. It feels like we were out of our routine for a way to long.
We started into things right away, from your culminating tasks, to a brand new math unit. January is going to be extremely busy!
Reminders:
1. Novel Study Culminating Tasks – please remember to submit your best work, a finalized product. Whether you chose to display your understanding in a game, a diarama, a scrapbook, or a website be sure to present it well. (NEAT, ORGANIZED, CLEAR, LABELLED, etc.)
2. How-To Videos/Photo Story – In addition to the video, you must submit a detailed how-to written report on your task. Please remember to check the Success Criteria to include everything necessary. (On the handout I gave)
3. Please continue to comment on each others posts. I will be producing a list of you you must comment on for next week.
Welcome back! It’s been a great first week!
